I got into this business because many years ago, I found myself on the wrong side of the phone...
My name is Richard Moghadam, I own this independent sales organization called Metromedia Funding Solutions. This company started off in 1998 as a media marketing company selling newspaper subscriptions in front of grocery stores luring people to sign up with giving them a gift card to the store when they signed up. In a few short years I found myself sitting on top of a large scale operation with 75 sales reps, and 11 cities. Little did we know that the computers and technology would soon end our run.
As the large media companies my business was working for started cutting budgets and cancelling contracts, I found myself in the need of a new career. I started working with a friend who managed a roofing company, and made plenty during that year (2006.) I missed the direct sales, so I took on contract work under Metromedia for a few years, but as a side gig to the roofing. After my 2nd divorce and meeting my current wife, and with a new baby in tow (2010-2011) we found ourselves in a mess where the company I was working for disappeared owing me money. I started my own roofing company and used my skill set of marketing to grow the business very quickly. The problem was I was growing the business faster than my bank account was rolling, but as a long-time business owner, I wasn't scared, little did I know. I hired someone to help us set the roofing business up and to help collect money owed to my business, and find us funding.
I was promised that if I took funding from the guy he found for me it would somehow help my business establish a relationship with some random funder...
Well, I took the advance, and the loan that would have saved my business never came through, and I was in a real mess...
We learned later that he ripped me off and my business off. The issue- the funds he took did not belong to me, they were deposits for new jobs, in combination of some bad choices of "robbing Peter to pay Paul" with the funds he took, I found myself in trouble.
It cost me three years of my life, I found myself in trouble in multible counties and I had no more money. When I was released, I found myself on the streets with less than a dollar to my name and had to panhandle to get something to eat and call some family to find a place to sleep.
I found myself working at a pizza place and I found an ad soliciting to sell business funding, I answered the ad. I started working in the industry of business funding in 2017. By 2018 I discovered the company I was selling for was not being honest with me or my clients, so I took my clients and left, and started building relationships with funding managers and private funding sources.
I discovered a major issue in the industry, there were more people making promises to help businesses that they could not keep. That bothered me, the merchant cash advance is not a "end all be all" thing, but if you don't explain it correctly, you can damage someone, I know this because I was damaged from the same empty promise.
I decided I was going to lead the change , not only for myself, but for the industry and for business owners like you, like me....
During the time that I had to rebuild my own life, I found myself fighting for my kids and as a single father with a past, was awarded custody in two different states. I learned how to navigate parenthood and business ownership at the same time never missing a beat.
During 2018 and on forward I rebuilt the way that business funding is presented and explained, catching the attention of 1,000's of funders and private investors across the country. The quickly discovered that the way I developed it stopped them from having defaults and businesses started growing, even in the pandemic.
Fast forward to now, in 2025, we have secured funding for over 30,000 businesses with a 94% retention rate, numbers unheard of in the industry. With tons of references and 5-star reviews , we were identified as a leader in the industry.
